I like the look of the closed back wavy grovers best out of all of the styles I've seen on RIC basses. This set was secured by Paul W using his drill/tap technique, so no concerns.walker wrote:Sweet! I love those old Grover tuners. I don't care about what the (quote) EXPERTS (endquote) say about them.

If you ask Mark Armtwist about Grover tuners, he'll give you an anti-Grover tirade that would make you think a set of them killed his entire family.

Holy Cow! (Can I say that here?) We missed the June & July birthdays! Feel free to post them if you've got them.
And you can color me meta, but now that we're in August, I just happened to have one August birthday in my flock.

My August jg 320 is 36 years old this month. QH 3474
Got it originally in 1985 - lost it in 1990 for 17 years and then recovered it about 5 years ago...
It survived a rather nasty fire while out of my possession. I have gotten it playable again at least.

Happy to have it again..

That's a great story, Brian!
I had an 1980 320, sold it, I wish I didn't.
They're great little guitars. Real fun.

Wow, Brian! What's the full 411 there? How did you lose it, and how did you get it back again?

Cool, Brian. Thanks for the link. But this thread is all about the stories behind the gear, too.

Gorgeous 360, Wim!
Re: Commemoration - Your Guitar's Manufacture Anniversary
Wow... that really is an amazing story! I highly recommend it to everyone who hasn't read it already. I don't know if you ended up changing the nameplate for a lesser-cooked one, but I love the look of that burnt one. All that damage is some serious mojo - a guitar that endured a house fire and lived to tell about it! Those are scars to be proud of.

Thanks for the kind word everyone... Yes I did replace all the white plastic - TRC and Pickguard - although I still have the originals in the case.walker wrote:Wow... that really is an amazing story! I also replaced the 4 control knobs - the only one still from the fire is the blend knob.
