Hope to talk with Chris Squire . . .
. . . today. Yes is playing the Wisconsin State Fair mainstage tonight, and I'm hoping to get some time with him before the performance. I have no idea how I'll find him, but I'll try to get somebody near the stage who can direct me to someone who can make contact. My goal is to give him a signed copy of my book, and have him sign my copy. I've met him before and interviewed him by phone so I hope he'll remember me and the book. More later.

Cool! Let us know how it goes!

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Ha...hopefully this doesn't go like a "Big Bang" episode and end up with a stalking ban on Paul!
I'm sure it will go well.
You might just approach the sound guy at the mixer board?

Well this sounds like a well-thought-out plan.
Good luck!

Looks like I've made contact with CS's tech, Richard Davis, who has put me on the "guest list" for possible backstage access after the show. Thanks, John!!!

Hey Paul - good luck with meeting Mr. Squire tonight!
Last August when YES played here in LA, I did the VIP concert deal, front row, center seats, and got to meet them back stage after the show. I told Chris that his bass line on Roundabout was what hooked me completely on learning to play bass, and that the first song I ever learned was Siberian Khatru (live version from Yessongs). I remember telling him that one part of it was particularly tricky for me to learn (the F# minor "bridge" part - downright classical in it's concept, particularly w/the combination of his bass line and Rick Wakeman's KB work), and he replied yes, our stuff always has tricky parts! (indeed, it does) He seemed to be a good natured fellow, so I hope you get to chat with him and the others briefly
I'm enjoying getting through your book very much!

YES! Good luck tonight! I look forward to hearing the results.
And enjoy the show! It is quite an experience to hear all three albums.

Good luck, Paul! It's all in the timing, as they say

When I met Mr. Squire a number of years ago (35th Anniversary Tour, 2004) he and Wakeman were the most personable and approachable members of the band. (That's not to say that the others were unfriendly, but those two were often made to end conversations by their handlers, were telling jokes, and would greet people without prompting.) Have a good time, Paul; I'm sure it will be memorable. Please post some photos afterwards if you can!

Re: Hope to talk with Chris Squire . . .
I don't want to steal Paul Boyer's thunder, but I wanted to get these photos I took of Paul with Chris and Jon and Chris with Paul after the 8-8-2013 show at Milwaukee State Fair Park. Paul presented Chris with a copy of his book and Chris was very interested in it spending at least 30 minutes going through it and asking Paul a lot of historical questions. I am sure Paul will have more to say, but the photos are great and definately a high point in my life as I'm sure it was for Paul. Jon Davidson the lead singer for the tour is also a bassist and plays a 4001 Rick and was also extremely interested in the book as you can see. Way to go Paul, for putting together such a truly beautiful piece of work, I can't wait for the second edition.

I think Paul has already posted a bit of "thunder"...
