Truss Rod Adjustment for Flat Fingerboard
I am fine tuning my 4001V63 with DI Hi-Beam Strings 105 - 45 to get a flat fingerboard. I make small turns to the truss rod nuts, clockwise to remove the small amount of front bow. I turn the nut 1/8" - 1/4" clockwise, let it sit for 24 hours and then make another small change. It seems to be working, the front bow isn't that great, again just fine tuning here, but my question is how much tightening can the truss rods undergo? What is the maximum number of threads above the nut that I should see before I can say, "O.K. I have reached the limit and shouldn't torque the rods anymore." I don't want to break a rod for the sake of a fine tuning, but curious to know when enough is enough. Thank you for your input. Sincerely, Rob Hathaway

Re: Truss Rod Adjustment for Flat Fingerboard
Robert, if you start to really strain to turn the truss rod on your V63, then it might be time to stop. With the amount you are turning, is it making a big difference? How about the next day, is almost the same amount of bow back? What year is your V63?
Oh, Welcome to the RRF too. Lucky you getting to be there and take photos of Chris and Jon.

There are only so many threads on the rod (an inch or so?), at some point you will no longer be able to turn the nuts.

Robert, is your v63 from around '99 by chance?
