Hmmm...maybe I *will* ask Mike Parks for a photo of that '75 doubleneck's bass side TRC after all, since it's essentially the exact same axe as mine (1 month apart, actually). I feel bad asking for favours out of the blue though, since I'm not spending any money there at the moment.

Lars, you wouldn't be able to snap a picture of yours, would you? :-)

Steve - having never laid eyes firsthand on the Vintage series Ricks (I'm in Windsor, Ontario - seems we barely get Ricks here of any kind, unfortunately), I'm not sure what they look like. I *do* have the 4001CS though (I'm not sure if the Limited Edition badge on this vs. Vintage Reissue is just semantics or something more) - is it the same as that?

I believe the plexi TRC was discontinued around mid 1975 (May, I think). That makes your Azureglo 4001 an early 1975, Lars. Let me guess: the two letters on its jackplate are OA or OB or OC or OD or OE, right?

This is getting interesting. Image FTR, mine is August '75 (OH XXXX). I'm really hoping they *did* actually put the plexis on that late, as it would at least allow a scenario as to why mine has the style of fake that it does (i.e. owner broke or lost original and made facsimile based on it).

Ooops! I think I really did put my foot into it this time. Sorry, guys. I stand corrected.
Meanwhile, here's a shot of the TRC on my April 1974 4001, Christopher.

Yes, it is OD! BTW it is not azureglo (unfortunately), but a refinish in Midnight Blue.

Thanks all for the photos. Sergio, yours helps a lot, as I can see the 'Model 4001' & 'Made In USA', and it makes me think that the forgery is missing that because it's so small that it was probably too hard to do, so they didn't bother.

Jared, *all* plexis are cool. Image I have Marshall Super Bass in my eBay Favourite Searches, amongst other things.

Hey Lars, no problem on the timeline - it's all helpful. Image I won an eBay TRC, so all shots I can get (with month/year) help me to verify as best I can what I need. The eBay TRC is plastic, white with black lettering - I'll be needing black with white lettering, and I'm hoping to be able to get a plexi if need be.

BTW - I'm thinking of scanning that response letter I got back from RIC in '83 just for grins.

Let's see it, Christopher! That would be fun to read.
Glad you got the TRC that was on the 'Bay. Ric will exchange it for a black with white lettering, but not a plexi, as far as I know.

They will exchange it for a Vintage TRC, I've done it twice now. However there is no black with white letters Vintage, only this:

So it looks like I'll have to choose between the Vintage white or plastic black TRC. Normally the black would be automatic, but there was a recent bass (might've been an 8, maybe a CME offering that was on eBay last week or so?) that, IIRC, had a black pickguard with white TRC, and it didn't look too bad. Not only that, but the vintage is backpainted, and I'm stubborn, Image

BTW - here's a scan of that letter. Forgive the quality, as I used my mom's X-mas present, and I didn't know what I was doing as far as photo editing. ;)
