Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
I just received this note from my RIC dealer on September 13...
"We just got word from Rickenbacker that they are clearing the Mandolin back-orders."
It went on to include this quote:
"No backorders or new orders for the Mandolins at this time. I’m not saying we’ll never make them again, just that we’re clearing out old orders and not taking new ones until we make them again, which is for a date unknown at this point."
I just want those with dealer deposits on model 5002V58 mandolins to be aware of this.

Good to know, Michael, thanks!

The 5002v58 is a very, very cool instrument.

I'll echo Kenny's comment.kennyhowes wrote:The 5002v58 is a very, very cool instrument.

The mandos are very fun to play (and really cool looking instruments), but I found that the sound of an electric mandolin was not something I found all that useful.
If I ever get another -- and I'd like to -- I'm going to find a way to add a piezo setup to it, to get some acoustic tones out of it.

I occasionally think I'd like to hear one tuned to uke tuning, with single courses. I wish I never sold my Epi Mandobird IV so I could try it.

Re: Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
Cool, but too much $ for what they are, IMO.
Re: Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
This is not relevant, as we're just not accepting new orders for these currently. It has nothing to do with existing orders and, as stated, we're trying to get the current orders out the door as soon as possible.mborkum wrote:I just want those with dealer deposits on model 5002V58 mandolins to be aware of this.
Note also that WE do not take deposits.
Re: Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
Then one of your authorized dealers is providing false information.
That quote indicating that back orders were being cleared was copied verbatim.
Also, I referred to "dealer deposits", not manufacturer deposits, to indicate deposits being paid to dealers, not RIC.

Re: Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
I don't think you understand that "clearing orders" to us means making the goods and shipping them, thereby "clearing the orders" off the books. No one said anything about "cancelling orders".
Re: Mandolins on hiatus (for now)
Ok, apparently not. I was confused as the dealer then asked me if I wanted to redirect my deposit to other merchandise in the store, thus strongly implying that my mandolin deposit was no longer valid due to back orders being "cleared".
