Too late to send in the warranty registration card?
I bought an 85 4001FL and got it today complete with registration card, haha! The bass is like new though and plays like new. It's a mapleglo, I'm sure some of you saw it on ebay over the last month. Anyway this is the first new Rick I've had in a while, it looks just like my 79 4001 mapleglo except it doesn't have the skunk stripe in the middle and the tuners turn clockwise to raise the frequency instead of backwards as my 79 does. I'm surprised at how slim the neck is, the strings on it are probably as old as the bass, they're black wrapped flatwounds and actually still sound good. The neck is straight, I'm very happy with this bass, haven't had a fretless for a while either, going to take it to the jams around here in Ma tomorrow. I have always liked Rick fretless basses and was surprised when they stopped making them, oh well.

Good one, Bob, the title had me going!
Congrats on the bass. But we need pictures!

Congrats on the "new" fretless! And yeah, ya know how it is, it didn't happen without pictures...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I just put some Elixer Nanoweb strings on thanks to a member here, had to tweak the truss rods, I don't think they've ever been turned before. They were actually fairly loose with the flatwounds on it. I'm taking it out to the jams today and I'll post a picture here later, I am really psyched, this is a beautiful bass.

Good to see you back posting again, Bob. Congrats on the new-to-you FL - enjoy. And I think you need to send in a registration card when you decide to look for a new Rick for it to be valid.
Re: Too late to send in the warranty registration card?
Well my 85 4001FL suddenly turned into an 85 4003FL last night when I took off the pickguard, haha!
The reason I thought it was a 4001 was because the registration card had 4001 written on it in pen and I have seen several 85 4001's in my time. I had noticed that the truss rods adjusted very easily and smoothly though and wondered a few times if it were a 4003 but thought the card must be right. It's also pretty much identical to my 79 4001 except that is doesn't have the strip through the middle of the body, all in all it's a very nice playing and sounding bass.

I suddenly started hearing something loose in my RIC RB120 amp after I brought to SCARF '07. I never heard that before.
John Allgaier took the head out the unit of because we thought it might be a loose electronic component. Nope, the former owner slipped the warranty card in there and it got loose in the amp cavity after I set the amp down in the display room.

JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
