Lefty Vibrato that's not a Bigsby!GIBrat51 wrote:I currently have no plans to put any kind of vibrato (or tremelo, or whatever) on my 330. However... If I were to reconsider, it would have to be a Bigsby, for the simple reason that, (as far as I know) it's the only thing I can get that's left handed.

Yes but you can't put that on a Rickenbacker.jps wrote:Lefty Vibrato that's not a Bigsby!

Planning to route a Strat-style trem cavity into your Rick?jps wrote:Why not?

Okay, so even if you're having a slight bout of insanity and thinking that's a great idea, it still wouldn't work on a hollowbody like a 330.jps wrote:Sure.

OK, tell ya what: YOU cut a hole in YOUR 330, and let me know how it works outjps wrote:Grey wrote:jps wrote:Sure.[/quo
Even if I wereseriousinsane, with the center block in a modern 330, I would think one could be installed. It would be a bit funky (understatement, here!) since the platform would be raised up above the top surface of the body to accommodate the higher plane of the strings (a block of balsa wood should suffice), and of course, it would replace the stock bridge entirely.

Sorry, can't do it to mine, it has X bracing in it (March '67

It's gotta be better than their "solution" to putting a B5 on a Flying V!

Why even bother with a Bigsby on a Flying V ???? This is one of the worst guitar mods I've ever seen. If you play a Flying V, chances are you don't want a Bigsby anyway. If Gibson offers this as a stock or custom shop option, shame on them!

Re: BIGSBYS?
Well, remember that the Flying V was originally a 1950s design-a "modern" shape of the rockabilly era (that didn't catch on with most guitarists, though the "V" shape was quite popular in other design arenas of the era), and famously played by Lonnie Mack, so a B-5 is era-appropriate for the design; it was only later that hard rock and metal took to the design, though obviously Hendrix had one.
There is no reason to ever be bored.
