Who are your favorite contemporary Ric bassists

Post by ch willie »

My musical tastes range widely, and I'm listening to a lot of contemporary British alternative / mainstream. I hear Rics often, but I don't often catch the bands' names.

So who are your favorite contemporary Ric players? I don't mean folks like McCartney who used to play a Ric predominantly. I mean folks who are using Rics now.

So many, but the question is how contemporary? Current players, I vote Lou Barlow - Sebadoh. Right now that is.

In recent contemporariness: Brett O'Riley (Ricaine), Sergio Vega (Quicksand), Paul D'Amour (TOOL)... there will be more.

Nice! I'm a huge fan of OM and Sleep.

My favorite contemporary Ric Artist would have to be Evan Linger from Skeletonwitch. He gets a pretty mean tone out of his Ric for metal.

Excellent. Last summer I watched a stream of some indie festival. Again, I didn't get band names, but there were Ric 4001/4003s all over those stages.

I see a lot of people using them, but as far as standing out with what they're getting out of them, The bassists for Vampire weekend, and Muse (both named Chris,huh..... ) are great. Like a certain namesake of theirs, they play intricate, melodic bass lines that become a prime part of the songs....
The chaps in franz ferdinand, and Paul Weller's bands are also way good.....
