Probably more wall trophy than road warrior... My last gig in front of an audience was about 25 years ago.s4001 wrote:Awesome. Soon to be another road warrior

I am downsizing a bit now. While I am torn to pieces each time I sell a Rick, I am to keep only 3-4 from the one I have. Living in a small townhouse, I need to regain some space...
I can't wait to receive the 64. I actually never touched it. I purchase it as an unfinished project and had it sent straight to Larry.

That decision would be a difficult one,for me,(save for the '07 jg 4003 fl,bye-bye!
). You have some fabulous vintages to have to weed out! I was supposed to sell either my Cii or my 4000 when I bought my custom Laredo, but i still have all 3 of them! Storage space isn't an issue,MONEY,on the other hand,is.
Good luck with that!

Re: Next 1964 4001 to be restored to its former glory
I too battle with what to save and what to sell. Seems like every instrument I've sold I regret at some point down the line. While money is also a concern, space is a huge factor. Housing 8 instruments is simply not practical or easy for that matter. Recently I sold my Modulus Q5. I never played it but when I did, it was such a sweet instrument to play! The day I boxed her up and shipped her to her new owner, I had "sellers regret".
I try to approach it this way, if I have not played an instruments in x amount of time, I seriously consider selling it. The problem with this is, once I've had thoughts of selling, I begin to play it and I realize that it plays or sounds so good that I realize why I still own it!

Yes,Sepp, but your collection isn't exactly run of the mill!
It took some doing to find all of those "especiale" models....as the ex-owner of 2 Modulii (modulusses?),i woulda done the same. (In fact my 2nd,better Modulus was the trade-in when i bought my 4002). (This was at a time when Mods were popular and no one especially myself, even knew what a 4002 was...). I stole it.....

I am leaning towards the 64, 68, 72 (4001) and 73. The 4000 has a fantastic neck but I play with the neck pickup most of the time so it sits pretty on the wall. The FL is soon to be a goner. I just cannot play fretless.Lefty4003S8 wrote:WELL......I KNOW which ones I'd keep........the '64, the '68, and BOTH '72 basses!!!!!!! Re: Next 1964 4001 to be restored to its former glory
I found a cure for this. When an instrument goes for sale, I store it in its case, out of sight, and I refrain to take it out.Kopfjaeger wrote:I

That is why it does not get much play. Being crazy I would rout a neck pickup cavity and transform it into a 4001 as this bass has the best neck of all my Ricks.
