Spectacular
Very nice.
I have a 74 (w/red dots) and a 75 4001 and they are both a joy to play.

The bass is everything I wanted. Plays fantastic, sounds stunning and it just feels good!! Lovely!!
Before the pics, I want to give some special thanks.
Sergio - Rewinding the neck PU. Sounds fantastic, couldn't have been done better!
Colonel Sanders - Thanks for the bridge PU!! Where can you find these old ones?? Thanks for helping me out!!
Chris Dekker - Sending me two strap buttons. Being a perfectionist, these really finish the project!
Tom Shiben - Helping by ordering screws and resend them to Europe!
Heinpete - Sending me pickup screws!
Geir Wikran - New looking PU surrounding!
Peterbuilt Basses for giving loooots of advise!

Looks great! Congrats!
Re: 4001 1974 restoration
Nice work, y'all. Congrats on a great restoration, Bram.
Re: 4001 1974 restoration
Looks lovely. Great work.
Problem with the surround: Yes, those ‘70s surrounds are little bit tighter. The cover is plastic and can be bent a little together to get it in. But it also depends on how wide apart the screw holes (for the height adjustment screws) are spaced on the pickup mounting plate. I was using a black plastic plate, which maybe have the whole closer together than the metal plate you’ve got.
Anyway. I also have a virtually unused current type surround, where the inside opening is about 2mm wider than on that ‘70s one. If you like a swap I can take that ‘70s surround back and send you the other one instead.

Thanks guys!! Nice to hear so much good response!
@Chris Ha! That's OK if you pick it up here and leave your's behind here! Are you going to join the BGF meeting? Maybe I will take it with me!

Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .

Looking great, and it didn't take too long either…at least not from my vantage point!
