Officially, Do Most Ric Owners Own More Than One?

Post by Tommy »

I'm sure at a site like this the majority of the members probably own more than one Ric. But I wonder if we could find out the actual numbers of Ric owners (at this site or not) who do own more than one. It is said that the average age of a Cadillac owner is now 65. Can we get that specific with number of Ric owners who own more than one Ric?

I would guess that the majority of those that do own a Ric DO NOT have more than one. But I do wonder what the % of Ric owners who have more than one might be.

No, I'm thinking about all people who purchase a Ric. Do the majority of them go on and purchase another?

The majority of guitar and bass players have more than 3 guitars or basses. I bet most people go for different sounding guitars, with only a smaller group going for the same sound/shape/style

You know, come to think of it, every single person I know who has a guitar or a bass...has more than one.

Excellent question! I think the Admin (Peter) could run a sort in the Register to see how many registered Rickenbackers (minus collected ones, ie, not actually owned by the person registering it) are registered, on average, to the same owner.

Given that, the owner with the most Ricks must be the person who's initials are CI.

Over the years, I've owned seven Rickenbackers. However, five was the most that I had at same time. I'm currently down to three, a six string (1997), a twelve string (360/12 Carl Wilson LH), and an acoustic (730S Shiloh).

Looks like a bit more than 1 per registrant? I would think it closer to 2?

I currently own 4 Rickenbacker basses. Have owned 6 during my time playing/collecting.

At present, I have around 16-17 basses. ALL of them have been acquired for their particular sound and playability.

Natural curiosity?

I recently bought another Rickenbacker and was just curious as to whether my behavior was falling in line with others who buy Rickenbackers. My first was the 360/12 string. To me that was everything. That was enough. Yet, somehow I now have three. Just wondering if that is a common occurrence amongst those that buy a Ric.
