Re: 4001 1974 restoration
As promised, the vid! Just a jam today with my band, we are currently writing new songs.
Love the sound. I think the bridge pickup needs to be re-wounded cause it had absolutely no bass and no output. Even if I screw it up, it isn't useful.
That would improve the sound even more, probably.

Really good! I've always liked 3 pc bands. Unexpected guitar choice but it works well. You might try the Glyn Johns drum mike technique. Use the 4 mike method, 2 matching large diaphragm mikes as overheads & close mike the snare & bass drum. I've used 2 Sure SM57's as over heads in a pinch & it still works fairly well. The Glyn Johns placement is important.

Bram, sounding good! Love the tone you are throwing out there! Nice sounds song too. Hey for your pickup check out Sergio in the forum at - Winding Up With The Best: by Sergio Silva.

...regarding the bridge PU, did you already bypass the little cap of it? If not, that could explain the missing bass sound. Check out here in the Forum for guidance.

O.K. mine is finished too! I tried to capture the matte Autumnglo finish with this nitro laquer. The first instrument for my local carpenter, not bad

Super nice Pete!!! That's a fantastic looking bass!!

Re: 4001 1974 restoration
It sure is! I second looking for the .0047uF capacitor between the toggle switch and the bridge pickup volume pot. Solder a wire across the cap (lead to lead) and see if you don't get the bass you are missing.

In real live Bram's bass is even more amazing I saw at a dutch bassplayers confluence last sunday.

For the Glynn Johns method your drumkit has to be really even in sound, if you compare all parts. Nowadays snares and cymbals sound harder than they did in the sixties when Glynn recorded.
Both basses look gorgeous!!

Normally we use a 16track recorder so we can mix and fix everything we want. Works great.
This is just a 4track rehearsal recording, combined with my ipad camera.
Thanks for the responses, again!
