350V63 or 360

I've looked at a lot of different style guitars over the last month and my list
is down to just two. Both are Rickenbacker a 350V63 in Fireglo or Midnight
Blue or a 360 in Midnight Blue. I have been watching YouTube and I the review
that Mr Vintagemusic did on the 350V63. I still have to find one on the 360
and buy getting the new guitar the wife now want's a new bathroom. It's a trade
off that's fine with me. My first 360 was back in 1988 and my first 350V63 was
back in the early 90's so how have they changed going into 2014?

350V63 is equipped with scatterwound toaster pickups starting circa 2000; formerly had hi-gain toasters.

360 will have smaller headstock, full width inlays.

I think that's it for the construction basics,*** other than the change in finishes, which is a whole other topic.

I don't think they were making 350v63s in the early 90s. Your guitar might have been the 350v63's predecessor, the 350 Liverpool. The earlier 350s had a 24-fret neck with a 325 proportioned body. The 350v63 has a 21-fret neck with the pickups spaced out. It's a big difference visually.

deaconblue you are right I has a 350 with 24 frets my next one was the 355
John Lennon. Then after that I had a 350V63 should have kept the JL but I
list to other people where I live and sold it. It seems they knew what was
better for me. None of them even play Rickenbacker just Fender and Gibson.
I can still remember it you don't want that guitar they were trying to sell what
was in stock at the music store. They are not me and I'm not them so at this
point those sales people are not even around anymore. I have my eye on a
Midnight Blue from 2011 used in mint shape and also the 360 in Midnight Blue
brand new from 2012. Also there is a 330 in Mapleglo at the same music stiore
as the 360. If I go with the 360 or 330 I'm going to change the pickups to Toasters
I just like them better for the music that I play. I would also like to look at a 360V64
or reissue 1997 in Fireglo or Mapleglo.

From about 1984 'till 2000, toaster pickups were wound much hotter. From 2000 'till present, they've been scatterwound to 7.4k ohms. There are also some lower-wound, flat-pole toasters floating around, which were stock items on the 325c58 and the neck position on the 360/12c63.

Ahhh OK, I really didn't know that fact… so I can guess my 1995 toasters are "hot wound" ?

The rating on the 360/12c63 pickup is different from the 325c58, right? (I hope so...)

Yep. It actually makes a big difference in tone.

Check the four screws in the corner of the pickups, if they are phillipshead (cross) then the toasters are the" hot" ones.

They are… but I was quite sure, my guitar is only from 1995, not so old…

I have not yet bought the guitar I'm still waiting till next month. I want to make sure that the
guitar does not have a fat neck. I like the slim profile and I have played a new 360 in Midnight
Blue that play's great. The 360V64 I won't be able to play first that's the bad part. With the Midnight
Blue one I could change out the pickups to Toasters. The music store said they would do that which is
fine. One other thing my computer is not working to good so I'm looking at a new one and the money
for that has to come out of my Guitar money.
