Meet Barney........
I just got a 2009 Rickenbacker 360/12C63 and found my Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 18 just wasn't working for me, so off to test drive a few amps that I hoped would sound better.
Loaded with info from this site I tried about 6 different amps, and this is what I decided on.........
Meet Barney, Vox AC15C1-PL

Re: Meet Barney........
Love those purple Voxes. Of all the colors that they have been doing limited runs on lately, the purple is definitely the most striking.
Odd story (maybe true, maybe false) but decades ago there were a handful of purple AC30s around. Supposedly the guitarist from Stone Temple Pilots bought up every single one he could get his hands on. Their album at the time was called "Purple" and when they toured he had a wall of purple Vox AC30s.

Meet Barney........
Congrats on the AC-15, Dave !
I saw your other thread where you have a Celestion speaker ...

Re: Meet Barney........
Yes, I was just asking if there was a difference in the speakers, as mine came with a Celestion G12M Greenback, but the other cream colored limited edition AC15 comes with a Celestion G12M-65 Creamback?8mileshigher wrote:Congrats on the AC-15, Dave !

Re: Meet Barney........
I just bought one several months ago. Mine came with an alnico blue in it. Its my favorite amp along with my Fender deluxe. These two amps cant be beat. Gary
Re: Meet Barney........
I'm wondering what the difference is between these speakers? Vox says the greenback is for that "vintage" sound, but now they say this new Creamback is for that "vintage" sound, I guess these are 2 different "vintages sounds? Then you toss the Alnico Blue into the mixture? Just which "vintage" sound is the real "vintage" sound?? Lolbowser2533 wrote:I just bought one several months ago. Mine came with an alnico blue in it. I also tried a Fender Hotrod Deluxe in orange with white racing strips!!! Beautiful amp, but just too loud at 45 watts for my needs

Re: Meet Barney........
These are all good sounding speakers. My advice is go what sounds good to you. Two people can play the same guitar thru the same amp and sound different. It has a lot to do with the touch and the hands of the person playing the instrument. Gary
Re: Meet Barney........
Cool! You name your amps.
So, it looks purple but it sounds green[back]!
Very colorful amp you have there.

Re: Meet Barney........
I tried both the limited edition Vox AC15's and I certainly couldn't tell the difference between the creamback and the greenback speakers, so you could well be right. That being the case I just went with the color liked best.bowser2533 wrote:These are all good sounding speakers. My advice is go what sounds good to you.
