Project 1970 4001 JG Vancouver CL

So how low would this have to go to make it a viable project? I've seen it in person. Its more of a crack in the neck than a mere separation.

That's a real deal already from where I'm standing.

If you can get it cheaper, even better. If I was in Vancouver that would be gone by now. Even if it is JG!

I think this one may have surfaced last year.
Good price for a project.
Crack schmack!
If its clean and closes well its fixable .
Given that it still has many 60s features I'd say its
a worthy save.

apparently I was first to respond - there were many interested parties as to be expected.

the seller, Keith, was extremely helpful in providing a plethora of pics. he has the original tuners, tailpiece tucked away - all electronics appear original. he's had it for 20+ years and it essentially served as a wall hanging.

I mentioned I would need to supply the bridge to which he responded by providing the attached pic- seen anything as odd as that before?

it will be heading to Larry D for a full restoration in the new year. I'm flip-flopping between white and azureglo for a period correct finish. I'd consider a translucent, but the requirement to plug some holes will likely take those options off the table.

Congrats!
8)

Azureglo is a great choice, kind of rare and definitely good looking. I love mine...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

yeah, the bass player in me shouts Azureglo, the architect; white.

for those who aren't familiar with it, this chart is quite useful in tracking the finish offerings from the factory over the years. I can't comment if it is 100% accurate, but 'checks-out' with my collection past and present.

Congrats, Bryce!

If it has nice figure in the wood once stripped, you could go with a Burg finish which would let the grain show through, but would also hide hole plugs.

Lucky *******, I was #2. Unless the repair will really show scars, I'd leave it as is. Dinged up is not an issue. Factory fresh does nothing for this instrument, especially if it's a player. If you plan on putting it in a glass case then a re-fin makes sense.

If that's an original finish Bryce, don't change it!
