Ngd...

Post by Pearlwhite67 »

Hi folks, new to the forum. First post.

Ive just landed my first ricky. I had collected lots of guitars. Nice ones. But somehow a few i just didnt bond with.

Anyhow to cut a long story short i took two guitars and an amp to my local music shop and negotiated a trade for a 360/6 ricky. Early nineties. Red and black.

Loving it. Amazed at how it loves a bit of gain as well as the jangle.

A quick question. Good cases? Are any after market cases any good ? She came without a case and im in the market for one.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum, Peter, and congratulations on scoring that 360! I own a 1991 330/12 that's the same color as yours: red with black pickguard and hardware. It's a very rare color combination, and (I think) quite stunning. I wish I could answer your question about finding a case for your new baby. I'm sure others will chime in! :D

Welcome Peter,

If I recall correctly when I approved your membership application you are in the UK. Your dealer there is Rosetti. http://www.rosetti.co.uk/

Or you can always try Ebay. Rickenbacker cases do pop up once in a while there.

I have never found an after market case that fits a 330 or a 360 Rickenbacker. It would be interesting to see if anyone else has experience in that regard.

My 360 has a case that I believe was intended for a Gibson ES 335 etc. and it works very well. Try before you buy! :)

Hi Peter- congrats on your Ric!

If you are in the UK there was a case kicking around on ebay recently for 85 quid.
There is also noe there for £160 bin or offers.

They are nice cases, but pricey.

Welcome aboard Peter! If you're located in the UK, there's a dealer here that has occasionally offered non-RIC cases. I bought one back in 2011 for a V64 12 string. As you can see from the picture, it fit like a glove. It's similar to a Gibson ES335 style case but with less space inside so a Rick 330 size body will not rattle around. This is the only non-factory case I've ever seen for sale in the UK which fit really snugly.

If you like the look of it drop me a PM and I'll go back in my records and find the Ebay seller id so you can contact them direct. I paid about 50 quid for it new so if they still carry them at the same price point that would be way cheaper than a beat up used RIC plastic case (they usually go for around a ton here in the UK).

hi folks,

thanks for the responses. I think a generic ES case is on the cards iniially while i get the money for a genuine rick case.

I've added a record to the registry and attached a pic of the new toy :-) i've had guitars for the last 30 years. but this is my first rick.

I'm wondering why i left it so long.

Some daft nooby questions. Im a bit siuck with the special features bit in the register.

Ive got bt = black trim.

Wb? With binding? My guitar has body binding and neck binding and binding around the sound hole. Somi guess that is wb.

What is bh? Some guitars that look identical to mine claim bh as a special.

Thanks!

You have BT and BH. WB is for double bound bodies.

BH is black hardware, like the pickups, tailpiece and tuning keys on your guitar. BT would include items such as your pickguard and TRC. 8)

Nice one Peter. Your guitar made me think of Mark Gardener from Ride, but I think his was a 330.

That's your first, now let's see how long it takes before you get another Rickenbacker. It's almost inevitable> It took me 25 years of lusting before I took the plunge. Now I have three!
