what cleaner/polish do you use on your Ric?
I own a newer 360/6 and wondering about cleaning. Please share what you use on your Ric. I am interested in knowing what you use on the fret board vs. rest of guitar!
I have been using Dunlop 65 for everything BUT the fingerboard. I use the 65 mostly to get rid of greasy finger prints. Is there something better? is the 65 safe?
And for cleaning the finished fingerboard I just use my breath and a clean cloth...what do you use for the fingerboard?
Thanks!

I use the Dunlop stuff as well but according to Rickenbacker they recomend a product called "Brillinize". It's what they uses at the factory.

All you will likely ever need to know, is explained in Paul W.'s excellent posting from several years ago......

Scratch-x to take off dirt, grime and muck off the finish.
Zymol to bring the luster and shine back.
Both available at any local auto parts store. Not the cheapest, but a bottle will last you eons.

Zymol all around, including the fretboard. Smells like a Hawaiian Tropic Bikini contest. Not much else comes close!

Never, ever drool on your surf shirt. It wrecks the solo.

As recommended by Paul W.
Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .

Not current Scratch X, right? Just the old version, which has a different name now, right?

I know that it has a different name depending on the country, but I have been using this for more than 30 years on my Rickenbackers (and other guitars too) and the finish still looks like brand new

it may not be so "scientifically fit" for the purpose like the famous products mentioned within the RIC community, but it costs no more than a couple of dollars, it takes 5 minutes time to clean your instrument by using a soft cloth and it does a great job....with a can of it you can probably clean 50 guitars/basses

Called "Pledge" here:

Not sure that it's good for your finish though, I have no idea..

This: http://www.musicnomadcare.com/guitarone.html - cleans up the crud like magic, and smells nice, too.

Loaded with Dimethicone. That will effectively make it impossible to ever refinish the instrument in the future. The main reason it cleans is the naptha it contains- may as well just use naptha.collin wrote:Not sure that it's good for your finish though, I have no idea..
