Fake double neck bass/12?

Post by DevilsHandsAreAnIdolWorkshop »

Okay, shame me if I'm stupid and should already know this, but...

Is this a fake?

http://topguitarsglobal.com/double-neck ... ple-bass-1

I have a hard time believing that double necks can go for this price. The dealer is not listed as an authorized dealer on the Ric website.

I just did two nights of The Musical Box (fake Genesis) shows. The sound of the double neck made me weep for joy. I was just looking around, had no intention of buying one because I knew it would be more than I wanted to spend. Then I saw this (and a few others like it). If it's real, I'm getting it. If not, glad I asked.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed light on this.

Reading on, yes, it's fake.

I would have thought that all the Made in China stuff would be a clue . . .

Anyway, we're working on this one.

Haha, sorry! I was so blinded by what I thought was going to be (another) birthday present, I didn't even read jack.

Thank you.

We and a number of other music manufacturers already have investigators on this one. This operation, apparently located in the Philippines is a knock-off specialist in a number of different product areas. It's a sort of "Silk Road" story.

The trick is to develop a strategy that takes them out permanently rather than allow them to change site and payment locations in a never ending battle. The feds are now part of that solution.

FYI, the photos on their site, such as those of factories, are generally traceable to those appearing on other company's sites.

I'll add that it would just be nice to be able to spend the day building guitars or designing new ones, rather than wasting time of infringement issues.

1) If that's their "specialty" the business cycle would take care of them, if there was any poetic justice. That thing is ugly. I expect specialists to actually be good at what they are "special" at doing. I guess that isn't the way it works in reality.

2) So that's why we don't see a) a 4002 re-issue b) a 4005 re-issue c) any other Ric fan-boy(/girl) fantasy???

Seriously Mr. Hall, it's a shame you have to deal with this garbage, but I suppose it's a side-effect of success.
