Cheaper to buy a 4001V63 and have it refinished in cream by Paul W. Have the walnut wings stained fireglo - that's the original color of Chris' RM and I assume the wings of his bass were left red when the rest of the bass was finished in cream. I bought a 4001V63 with that exact intention but had Paul refinish my Blackstar instead. From what I can tell, there's no difference between the 4001CS and 4001V63 except the fingerboard and headstock wing wood. I was going to have the 0.0047 cap added as well.

The headstock wings on Squire's bass are clearcoated over the natuaral walnut. No fireglo was left anywhere on the bass that's visible. If you do decide to do a CS conversion on V63, be aware that '97-up V63's have a shorter headstock than previous ones with a different shape to the cresting wave at the end.Blackstar wrote:Cheaper to buy a 4001V63 and have it refinished in cream by Paul W. Squire's headstock wings and fretboard are vermillion.aceonbass wrote:The headstock wings on Squire's bass are clearcoated over the natuaral walnut. They most certainly are not. While the 4001CS headstock wings are vermillion, Squire's RM1999 headstock wings are walnut.

I like to think my '91 V63LH is JUST as good as the above mentioned model
