Using The Book As Inspiration

Post by lucky »

I haven't played my '92 4003 in almost 6 months, I had grown to dislike the mods I did on it & wished that I hadn't done them. Anyway for Christmas I was bought Paul's book and the Fireglo '68 4001 on the front cover got me thinking. I had tried to make my bass into a V63 style bass but, needed to get the HS pickup & toaster to finish it off, even though I was given a V63 surround & bought the scratchplate and vintage knobs. But after doing the mods I gave away my original parts :x .
So I bought a 4000 treble pickup surround & standard knobs from Rosetti & put them on my bass. One of the changes to the picture I made was leaving the pickup cover off, it's been on since 1999/2000 so I wanted to see how this would look like and play like. And I LOVE the way it looks now I have kept the V63 scratchplate with the half inch spacing, please excuse the bad photo as I have only just put it back together and wanted to post a picture. I honestly think that it will stay like this now or maybe a toaster pickup one day 8) . Two things though one I'm loving my bass again & secondly I'm in a position now to buy a HS pickup  but like this look better.

Well, you're a newb around here, so you're forgiven! :D

Yeah, Amazon is the quickest and cheapest way to obtain the book. Don't forget to leave a review there if you do!

VERY cool bass Shawn!!!!! I know you were going for the "V63" look, but, it REALLY looks like a vintage 4001.

I LIKE it!!!!!!

Going to piggyback this thread. Late getting around to it, but I finally ordered the book via Amazon.ca
