My new Ric & new to this forum

Post by dead_eye »

First off I'd like to say hi to everyone here,Im brand-new to this forum and this is my first thread.I got my new Ric,360-6 in fireglo on MewYears Eve,and she's REALLY REALY nice!I did'nt even know this forum existed until last nite and am I glad I found it already I can see there's a wealth of Ric info on here,I hope to learn much on here,I have a million questions but I'd just like to tell you all a little story with a happy 1/2 ending!I got my first Ric as a wedding present from my wife way back in 1972. Im not sure of the model but it was mapleglo with a vibroto that was chrome, round, thin, and came to a sharp point,if memory serves me I beleave it had 2 pup's and was used but in perfect shape.Anyway I really loved that guitar but a recession hit in 1976,and money got tight so I wound up working overseas, and told my wife to sale both my Ric,and my Mosrite Cellebrity.Well things eventually got better, but my two beloved guitars were gone for good.Since that time I have had and still have many very nice guitars, currantly I own a Gibby ES-335,Gretsch 1952 electromatic,G&L asat,Fender American Strat,Carvin AE-185-12,Martin and a Tacoma, but I still always longed for my Ric and Mosrite that I had sold!Well I finally got my Ric naturally she's not the same one but she's plenty nice, now all I need is to find a NICE Mosrite Cellebrity, that will be a little harder but still very do-able!On New Years Eve I called the Sam Ash store in Buffalo Grove Il, just to see if he had any Rics,he told me he just got in a 360-6 in fireglo, and that he waited 6 months for it(are they that hard to get)she was made on Nov 04!Well needless to say my son and I rushed over there and I made her all mine.I had a gig that evenning and I used her for quite a few songs, she was set-up pretty nice from the factory, and you know what?Playing that Ric made me feel like a kid again!!Anyway Im really glad I found this forum,Im gonna get much enjoymeny reading all the threads, and meeting all you nice people.

Great post, Paul. Congrats on the new guitar, and welcome aboard. You won't find a more informative board, about any topic, on the entire internet!

Welcome to the Forums Paul, as Andrew says there's a wealth of all things Rickenbacker here. I'm sure you'll have almost as much fun here as you do playing that 360.

Congrats on the 360. This board has taught me so much I didn't know about Rics. Like the fact I now must seek out a 4005 bass ;)

I too have a new Ric in my hands. On New Year's Eve I picked up my Mapleglo 660. It was born in Sept. 04 Yup, they're minty fresh these days.

Welcome aboard, Paul. I, too, kinda stumbled on this forum by accident shortky after I ordered my Mapleglo 360/6. Mine arrived on December 23 (born in Sept. '04), and she's a beauty. And, you know what you said about feeling like a kid again? Man -- plugging my baby in the first time made this old dawg at 55 feel like that spunky 17-year-old I once was. And that feelin' is mighty sweet!!! Hey, and these are a great bunch of guys and a well-managed forum. You won't find one better.

I just want to take a moment to thank all you guys for the warm welcome to this forum,I just know Im gonna like it here alot, and I've already learned alot about Rics.I belong to a few other forums that deal with tactical shooting,I compete in that during the summer months, anyway on those forums if you say something that some of the guys disagree with, you wind up getting flamed, then the guys that agree with you start flamming the guys that just flammed you!!!!It's a mess overthere some times.I visited pic of the rics sight for the first time and I saw a 330 BlueBoy for sale I really like that color Hmmmm I wounder how I can get it past the little lady?????

Try furnishing the spare room in baby blue. Let her get good and excited at the prospects. Slip the guitar in there as part of the decor. Just lean it against the wall, casual, sort of...

You guys are diabolical, with your advice one of two things will happen either I'll get the 330 BlueBoy and live happily ever after,or I'll get the BlueBoy and end up in divorce court, but either way I'll have the BlueBoy and thats the important thing!!!!?????

Paul,

Congrats on your new Rickenbacker! I understand and share your excitement. I'm new to this board, too and it's great!
