Anyone have a toaster and HB1 in the same guitar?

I personally preferred the HB1 in the neck and the toaster at the bridge because it gave a real Grestchy kind of tone, to my ears. ...... I used a 12k toaster, but I don't recall their being a big discrepancy in output between the pickups.

This is actually how I have my 480's set up. I also have the 0.0047 cap on the toaster. You still get the Ric chime but by blending in the HB you get some bottom end and a little more sustain with the chime.

But if your liking the HB in the bridge, as others said, look at the pots and caps first.

My 1981 370 WB has two Toaster-covered High Gains (approx 12kΩ) in the Neck-Middle positions and an HB1 (approx 14kΩ) in the Bridge. Plus some Oven Knobs added for the look.

Last night my buddy decided to use my Peavey Triumph at rehearsal and add his 16 ohm 4x12 (the Triumph I have is a 1-12 combo, with an 8 ohm speaker)...some years ago I hooked a 4 ohm 2x10 to the amp and had to disconnect the 2x10 about 30 seconds later because I knew if I tasted that sound longer I'd never let it go, and running that amp at 2.7 ohms would kill it prematurely...

Holy feces!!! The 4x12 was only drawing half the power, so it was hard to tell it was putting out any sound. But the scorpion speaker in the combo was RIPPING!

I've been playing bass lately, so the Dakota is sitting in its case missing a D string. I'm going to have to slap a string on it and try it with an extension speaker. I'm wondering now if my problem is the fact that using this amp at 8 ohms is like choking the amp? Maybe all I need is an 8 ohm 12" cab?
