I guess it depends on the definition of "playing".

Anyway, enough of that.

To get this thread back on track, I'll post one of a chick completely comfortable with her Rick.

Absolutely does in my humble opinion! Objectify women, objectify men objectify rickenbackers how terrible! Poor Colin must have doubled his dose of political correctness. John Halls double cut away was good but perhaps something with a longer HORN , say,a 481 may have evened things up? P.s. it's great fun until someone loses an eye!

Is there anything wrong with a little political correctness? I would take umbrage at both the title of the thread and the preference for racy photos. Probably inevitable, given the fact that those who post here are almost entirely male.

Calm down Guys, the ladies are either playing, or posed with a Rickenbacker. I would imagine they're OK with the pictures being seen. There are plenty of similar photos of ladies with Fenders, Gibsons, Gretsches, (or cars, trucks, beer, purses, shoes.....) etc.

And in reference to this site being mostly men, I would bet you almost anything that there are many more pictures of men with Rickenbackers posted here than women (some sexier than others).

I don't believe any lines have been crossed.

If you want to start the "Guys with Ricks" thread, so be it, I have plenty of pictures. :)

OK, enough with the PC silliness. Men being attracted to women and women being attracted to men is what makes babies, which makes families, which makes the world go 'round.

Now back to the subject at hand.

I started this thread with 3 pictures of gigging musicians and put it in the 'Artists' forum for a reason.

And next time just type "offense", I had to google what umbrage even meant.

The "objectifying" of women in this thread has less to do with emphasis on their sexuality than it does with a lack of emphasis on them actually playing a Rickenbacker guitar. It's making the statement that a woman's best contribution on this thread is anything but playing a guitar and that's a bit sad, innit?

It doesn't take "political correctness" to recognize that this thread took a steep decline from championing women who play Rickenbackers to a cheap opportunity to glorify sexuality over substance.

But hey....I guess my expectations of people are just too high. :(

I love women. I love Rickenbackers. I love chicken. I would much rather see either chick or a chicken holding a Rickenbacker than some dude, whether or not they can play it.

Some people are wound too tight.

Or more likely that 96% of guitar players are male. Not that Daisy Rock (ESP) hasn't tried to change that.

I should also point out that it's my understanding that the lady I posted IS, in fact, an accomplished guitar player. So, some of you are going to get hot and bothered next time Flea undresses while playing?

My apologies if my first post was too harsh. There are many excellent photos here, and only a handful that I would consider offensive to women. I just wanted to establish that Collin had a point. And I notice that none of our female members have even touched this thread.
