Is this an original 60's horse shoe pickup?

Post by nick21 »

Hey all,

This was supposed to have come out of a 1966 Rick 4001/1999 bass. Does it look right to the rick experts out there?

Hi Nick,

Welcome to the RFF!

It's a '68...green bobbin with wider gap magnets.

The bobbin looks a little tall for a bass pickup...maybe not?

It does have 4 poles correct?

Looks right to me, but 1966? I think 1968 is more like it. 8)

Sergio,

Yup, 1968! 8) I purchased this pup from the OP for the 1968 Burgundyglo project I purchased. I'm waiting for it's arrival from Cali, since it it has to pass a 30 day police hold to insure it's not stolen. This is a rare beast to say the least! I really thought I'd never be able to match the bass to the correct pup.
