Rickenbacker on Antiques Roadshow

Post by johnhall »

Rickenbacker will be the featured field trip for the "Anaheim, Hour 2" episode of Antiques Road Show. This is scheduled to air nationally on PBS at 8/7c PM. You can also plan on numerous repeat showings on a schedule dictated by the local PBS stations.

Apparently the Hour 1 segment airs tonight, with a field trip to some other local California location.

Last night, PBS So Cal (believe that is the former KOCE of Huntington Beach ?) aired the first segment with their field trip to the Queen Mary ... looking forward to the next installment with the Ric factory footage ! :)

Several folks have written to me indicating they're having trouble finding the Antiques Road Show Rickenbacker field trip segment on their local TV schedule. I'm advised that given the independent nature of public television, local stations have the discretion to show episodes at different air times and repeat frequency.

The bottom line is that you'll have to consult your own local TV schedule. The episode in question is entitled "Anaheim, 2nd hour" and most schedules make reference to some "celebrity shoes". However, the generally accepted NATIONAL broadcast that most stations will pick up airs April 28 on PBS at 8/7c pm.

Also, several people have asked if I will appear personally on this show and the answer is yes, as there is some small interview portion, factory tour, and banter between me and the show's host, Mark Wahlberg.

Update: Okay, it's Mark L. Walberg, not the guy in his underwear. Thankfully.

Does the guy in The Mills Brothers play a Rickenbacker and is the Rickenbacker factory aboard the Queen Mary?
That's the episode I caught.

I think I got the wrong Anaheim episode. But I do believe the Ric one is scheduled for Monday 4/28 at eight o'clock here in the New York area.

As noted in my original post, it's hour 2. You saw hour 1, which did indeed include a Queen Mary segment.

It seems to be either 7, 8, or 9 on Monday, depending on your location. In some areas, like where I live, it's at both 8 and 9PM.

I am looking forward to seeing this; I rarely turn the TV on, only for Formula 1, but I made a note of this, thanks!

The Queen Mary is pretty cool, I been on it a few times. They even had no problems with bringing a tripod along so I could use my view camera, anywhere I pleased (where the public was allowed, anyway). 8) One time I brought a Plaubel Makina 67 to use Kodachrome 120 for photography on board.

Yeah, it was cool, but way too short, IMO.
