Agreed, this finish is well done and highlights the grain well. Nice score!! :)

Too bad it doesn't stick better!

It's not gonna bubble or flake off on me, is it?

Your finish is guaranteed for one year, so if it happens within that period of time: send it back and they'll refinish it.
Don't forget to send in your completed warranty card!

No, it's just a lot of extra work to seal it in such a way that it doesn't.

...I'd accept to pay some extra bucks for that!

Come on now. Don't be lazy!

That gloss finish is nothing short of spectacular!

That's what I figured. The finish looks like it's very solidly adhered to the wood.

When I first saw these models announced the first thought that popped into my head was "...very cool, but I think I'd prefer that with a gloss finish..." I haven't seen an oil-rubbed version in person, but the photos I've seen of those also look very sharp.

RIC should simply offer both!

Beautiful piece; definitely NOT one to gig with, though. For me, anyway.

I'll have to bring it to the next MARF.

I know from our correspondence when Paul W. did the clearcoat on my 380L/12 he had to do a lot of body prep for the walnut to properly accept the clearcoat and the warm edge shading that he added. Not an easy task at all apparently but the outcome is most certainly aesthetically pleasing!! :D :D

Oh, it's still got a little bit of walnut on the front.

I have to say that I like both the oil finish and the gloss. The gloss brings out the depth of the grain quite nicely but the oiled finish has a certain sophistication all its own...

I bet several of the 4003Ws RIC dealers have sold are going to people who specifically wanted something that didn't have a gloss finish. Not all of them, but a sizable chunk I'll bet.
