Fretwire For Rickenbacker Refret

Post by admin »

From the Rickenbacker Forum Mailbox
"I am going to be doing a refret on a friends Rick Bass and wondered what size/brand of fretwire you would reccomend?"

Any recommendations on a gauge of fretwire and anything else to consider in refretting a Rickenbacker Bass?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

For a newer Rick, Stew-Mac #149 is a close fit. It is a bit wider and taller than the wire used on the older Ricks. I have not tried matching the older wire yet but I am sure Stewart Macdonald has some that will fit.
