Neck profile on walnut series?
Hello Rickies and Rickiettes! First post here!
I am interested in getting a 330 from the new walnut series and I had a question about the neck profile. How similar are the necks to the necks on early to mid-2000s 330s (these are the only ones I played, and they were a bit on the thick side)? As an easier comparison, how similar are the walnut necks to a Fender standard C? I am talking about the shape of the back of the neck and how it fills your hand.
Let me know if you have any insights! Good to be here!

IMO, the neck on the 330W feels more like a "D" neck shape than a "C" neck shape.
For comparison, my August 2001 330 Desert Gold has a much "chunkier" neck than did the 330W that I checked out at the NAMM show.

Mine just came in yesterday.
Indeed, like the good doctor said, the neck profile is more of a "D" shape than "C". However, the satin finish is really awesome and very comfortable to play.
Here are some pics of the 330W

Agreed, I think the neck/fingerboard is the best thing about the "W" series. Fingerboard is fast like an old Tele neck. "D" or SRV "C" is probably the closest.

They are beautiful guitars indeed. There is already a thread about the W-series . Here is the link:rickymosta wrote:ricfreak and manta -- beautiful guitars! Please tell me every single thing you can about them!

Just to mention: Compare the colour of the neck between the new one in front and the older guitars in the back: I can imagine the full width inlays of a 360 will develop their full and complete appeal not until the future. - Nice mental picture, IMHO!
Re: Neck profile on walnut series?
I played a 360W yesterday, and I thought the profile was a little flatter, and maybe slightly wider than that of the 360s I've had over the years. The satin finish sure felt good! I would have put the guitar on layaway, if It hadn't been bought over the phone, a couple of minutes before I made up my mind.

Wow!! Too bad 360 Girl (Ellen). Hopefully they'll get more in soon. While I like pretty much everything about my 330W guitar, the playability of this kind of neck is something I think stands out.
On the photo above, the necks on the background guitars look darker, Sascha, because I just used the on-board camera flash and the light didn't get that far. That being said, my 360L/PZ has darkened with playing and age just enough to give it that nice aged patina of a maple neck. I suspect I'll have to keep playing the 330W to achieve that as well.
