GC Rickenbacker 4001S Special?

Post by cheyenne »

Just got my catalog in the mail, the one with the Beatles on the cover, and noticed a Guitar Center Exclusive Rickenbacker 4001S Special model.

" This right handed tribute to the famous left handed 4001S played on several mid '60's classics features a figured matte-finish maple body, right handed headstock and vintage style hardware. A Guitar Center limited edition US exclusive."

Any buzz on this? looks a lot like a V63.

The only pic I can find is in my GC catalog. Looks like a V63, but with a satin finish.

I found more info over at the RIC corporate site. You might want to check there for photos. http://www.rickenbacker.com/forum/viewt ... =5&t=15820

I now work at Guitar Center, and there is no way I'll be able to afford one of these. It really is a tease.

That's almost as much as what a run of the mill 4003 costs down here...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I guess that would be the one drawback to living in NZ.

Yep, going price is $3599 for a standard 4003. Guess I won't be buying too many more...

Unless, of course, having the new distributor in OZ ends up helping things a bit...

Read my posts on the Ric CO. forum. This bass is essentially a re-issue V63 selling for $3400. Mus. Friend now sells the standard 4003 for $1800 (price drop). How can you justify a $1600 difeence? You could buy 2 standard 4003's to this one 4001s.
