Post by zinzin »

is it true that the toaster 7.4 k pickups (i could get one from 2008) are universal, usable as neck, bridge, guitar and bass pickup?

Concerning the use for guitars: They are the same, indeed.

Please read the description (with two exceptions) from RIC, also:
http://boutique.rickenbacker.com/PICKUP ... p_504.html

There are special bass toasters, too:

Not being an bass expert I am careful to say in the old days there just was one style of toasters. But I am quite sure it was this way.
- Maybe someone of the bass experts can verify that?

The short answer is, "Yes - identical." There is one significant difference in the mounting hardware: the bass toasters are threaded for the pickguard mounting screws for height adjustment. The guitar toasters are drilled through for the shanks of the wood screws used to mount them to guitars.

As Scott says, they're the same item apart from the way they are mounted. I recently installed a scatterwound toaster into my V63 with superb results!
