Cream Reunion

I saw Cream supporting The Who in Brighton in 67 also was present at the Cream final concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Methinks Clappo will not have the same fire in his fingers as he plays to far behind the goalposts these days. At the Brigton gig he was playing his painted SG and spent the whole set leaning on the side of his Marshall stacks I think they only played 4 songs with a drum solo for 25 minutes!!!At the farewell concert of course was playing the cherry Gibson 335. The last time I saw Clapton in concert he foolishly had Albert Lee in the band with him who kind of left him standing on the solo stakes.

I'd equate Mr Clapton's current approach in a similar fashion to Olympic Ice Skaters.

During the Olympics these guys go all out, hold nothing back, and take risks.

Once the Medal's won they're on to the "Ice-capades" safe, nothing that's going to stretch them, and for sure nothing too risky, and with a great income.

Cream was Clapton's Olympics, since then he's been in his own personal Ice-capade !!!!

Ron - I'm keeping daily tabs but I believe the same will happen as in 1968 -- tickets will be sold, un-announced, in 2 hours, except it will be for all 4 shows. Royal Albert Hall is tight lipped and completely non-helpful. I have contacted them twice.

I'm from the west coast too (Scottsdale), except my wife will be coming. You will probably need to go through a scalper to get tix, unless you have connections.

Sticky Fingers - overpriced; cool used guitars on the wall; food is like the Hard Rock Cafe. You can purchase Bill's books for $150(back in 2002). Probably more like $200 now.

Liverpool is a long-*** drive/comute. Roads are not like the US. Liverpool is quite ugly. Go to the Beatle hauts for the day and split.

Abbey Road - was there in 1973 and an employee took me through 2 studios, one in particular, that was their favorite and had flashing colored lights.

Ron, I work at Abbey Road occasionaly & they wont let you in. I think you'll be a little disapointed from the outside..it looks like just another London building.
Whenever I go there with a client, they always want to take the zebra crossing pic.

Ken - Hope you haven't bought tickets through this site yet. This is a ticket broker. Albert Hall has yet to post dates and prices. This guy will charge your card and wait to get tickets like everyone else. I bet the real prices are half what he's charging $350-600 each.

Thanks, Ken It actually helped out a lot as now we know the dates of the concerts - May 3-4, 6-7.

So far it looks like Ron, myself and our crews will be representing the US contingency.

The RAH is one of the great venues in the U.K. I love it,s intimacy and the acoustics. Back in the early to mid 90,s I used to go every year to Clapton,s residency, one year the blues, the next year the RPO and then the current material and band.
In between songs you could hear them talk on stage and at times some wonderful silent pauses.
Donna Summer was fantastic there too and the proms are something else too....
