Neither of us really knows squat about guitars

No offense, but I always find this a very interesting comment when someone owns a nice instrument. How did you and/or your BF come into possession of this bass if neither of you know anything about it? Just curious about how this works.

In 1980 he bought the guitar with the intention of learning how to play it; he never did. For a while he kept thinking maybe he would start...one year led into the next & here we are in 2014. All he knew at the time was that Rickenbacker produced a quality instrument, so he bought it. Simple as that.

Thanks to all the people who've been super helpful. At this point we have a good idea of fair market value & the different avenues we can take to sell the guitar. That's all I was looking for.

He lives in an apt. building now, so I don't think playing an electric bass is in his future! He's just now finally getting motivated to offload stuff he's been holding onto for years (coins, the guitar, various collectibles)...I only came here trying to help him. ('cause that's what good girlfriends do...LOL)
