about 1972 4001 treble pickup

Post by paololovat »

Hi
Please can anyone help me? I
bought a fabulous 4001 August 1972 .. but the original treble pickup has been replaced with a non-original.
What kind of pickup was mounted on 4001 1972? what kind of pickups does it fit?
Any of you have an old pickup to sell me or can give me directions where to find it?
I'm from Italy
Thank you a lot

You'll get more action if you post this over in the Bass section I would suspect.

Welcome to the fun, and you should be able to get something suitable without too much trouble. Either on here, or E-bay with some guidance of what to get!

Pablo, welcome to the forum. The neck pickup for that year was a Toaster. There are a couple of 'flavors' for the toaster - not sure which would be specific for your year. Perhaps someone can/will weigh in on that. But as said they usually aren't too hard to find. Maybe put a post in the Want to Buy section of this forum?

I just got back from two weeks in Italy (first time there)... a very beautiful country and people.

The 72 treble pickup will have slotted poles. They do appear from time to time on eBay.

Have a look in the register to see what they look like.

Sorry forgot to complete my previous post before submitting - the treble pickup was a High Gain with the poles as CS showed... I think the button HGs were introduced in '73 or '74....?

Best of luck on your search!! The vintage correct pup for you is not going to be an easy find!! It looks like this one. Some were painted, some not. It's .5 of an inch tall had it has the magnet attached to the underside. This pup in the foto is for the last style horsie but it's the identical bobbin.
