I am restoring a 1964 Rickenbacker RM1999 *(4001S).
The original fingerboards were made of Padouk.
I am seeking knowledgable information on the correct fret wire gauge to use in re-fretting the instrument.
So far, I know that "jumbo" bass frets (.100") are not correct for the period. I have one email from an "expert" that suggests .085 wire was the standard.
Do any of you have any accurate information on the proper fret size for this instrument?
Thanks!

Don't have the fret size handy, but the fretboards were made of bubinga, not padouk.
