They're reverse ones, huh?

Not factory stock if they are reverse ones.

Yeah, V63 should have the embossed "Rickenbacker" on the base plate and are NOT reverse. The Gotoh tuners put on the C64, however, are reverse.

Weird. Maybe someone put Gotohs on it? They have no name IIRC.

So, what bass are you talking about? What year? Is this a new-to-you used bass? It could be a retro-fitted V63, made more "vintage" with the Gotoh tuners from a C64, or it could be one of the leftovers from the special "1999" order from Japan. Let's see it.

It appears midway down about the second or third post in.

This was a very similar model, had a black nut and IIRC, reverse tuners as well.

It's a 2000 4001V63 FG I got from POTR a month or two ago.

Maybe one of the very last V63s, and a test-bed for the C64 hardware?

Hmm. Late V63, but certainly not the "very last" as they went into 2002. But yeah, you wonder how that came about.

Oh, good, it isn't "Night Of The Living Thread" yet...

This bass might be the reissue I've seen that comes closest to a Rose Morris 1999 in terms of specs: reverse keywinds, black bakelite nut and tug bar. Yes, the neck is too thick and the headstock is too short, but overall, certainly an interesting beast. Perhaps this bass and similar production models were paving the way for a C64? Who knows?

It felt good in my hands. That's all that mattered to me.
