You don't see these for sale very often. A little pricey though.

IF the bass was near mint it would be worth it, of course. The photos supplied just don't cut it.
Besides, he ought to call it a 1999. Does the bridge pu have full gain? Does it have a slim neck? What's the serial number? You can't see the condition of any of the nickel parts. Is the mute still there? WHO sets these prices? Who's to know it's not a converted 4000? I say all this stuff cos this is the bass I'd love to have - for musical reasons, not to hang on the wall. He'd have better luck selling it if he were to say "Ala Peter Quaif" ... And I kid you not, Bjorn Erikkson found one for me 18 mos ago for $1600 (a '67 I think) but I couldn't afford it. For that kinda bread, he ought to offer to send detailed photos.
And put in writing it's all original. When he cuts the price down to $2500 it'll go.
Strange how emotional us ric nerds can get.

It's back again, with a bid currently at $ 620.00. It is clearly stated that it IS a converted 4000...

Bass player for Next (FR)
If it was a convert then the linking channel between the controls and the neck pickup are /is the area to look at .
The old Rickenbacker basses used a cutter from a Hardware store .....an Irwin Speed Bore.
If the channel was routed ,then it is NOT original .
It should be noted that this speed bore channel looks amateurish and many owners of these instruments believe that ,due to this amateurish look ....they have a modified instruments .They are wrong !!!!
It would be interesting to see the bass with the guard off of it .
