Stringing a 12 string acoustic.

Post by Kilaen »

Has anyone ever restrung a 12 string acoustic guitar like a Ric? I realize it would most likely require a new nut, but was curious if anyone here had done it, and what did it do for your tone? I've got a 660/12 and have a Rainsong JM3000 on the way and was wondering while waiting on Fed Ex to get it to me!

Happily I have a RIC 12 string acoustic so I keep my old Hoyer 12 strung in the traditional way and have both worlds. Besides a new nut you might need a new bridge as well, could be an expensive effort to be done by a really good luthier.

Aside from the new nut, it's effortless. Do it! And remember, Rick acoustics have Rick stringing, and they work just great! Most of the acoustic 12-string you hear on any of my old It Rhymes With Orange stuff was an '05 factory 730L/12 FG.

And a great collection of music too!
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
