No - mine is a 4001 (with deluxe features), not a 4001S (with standard features) Donal. The same beast - but different!

Slotted or domed poles on it Kevin, I can't tell. Stunning, really!!
Thanks! It looks a little bright from that sunshine. We're not used to having the sun out around here!

Slotted poles, large magnet. Wound to 8.5k. It's killer!
Awesome!! Same bobbin that debut in 1968 first on the horsie then with the stip magnet, although I think RIC used the small/narrow magnet initially. I had the same pup on my early 1973 4001. Loved that bass!!

Ya, I was looking for a '73 just to get one with the larger magnet.

If you are very lucky Donal, the original finish may be underneath there...but I can't recall seeing an old Rick that has this. Your bass was probably exactly the same shade of Fireglo as Graham's.

We'll find out when it goes to Larry...

Heard from Donald (Donal) over facebook. The restoration of DA 009 is finished. Larry Davis (DGW) did a lovely job bringing her back to life.

Pics to share! (Have a look at the top of the thread to see what it looked like originally!)
