4005 back in production!
I would love to see this bass brought back and I'm just curious who would agree and if so which version would you choose?
Here's the model I'd like to see.

Hi Joe! They are cool basses, but the decision-makers at RIC don't care for them. I doubt we'll see them reissued.

That's a shame...I just see so many other company's out there offering a semi-hollow bass....it seems like it would be a good idea....I know I'd be in line to buy one or five...hahahasloop_john_b wrote:Hi Joe! I think the closest you're ever going to get to that is an Italia Rimini, which for the money is not too bad. I had one,but ended up trading it,as i do not like jumbo frets.

If it's going to be a thinline bass, I vote for the 4381 JV, or 4360 PA:
4381: Joey Vasco Signature Model; a four-string bass with a 381 guitar body style and headstock.
4360 WB: Paul Abba Zabba Signature model; a four string bass with a 360 WB guitar body style and bound headstock, overwound bridge pickup, and optional Accent BVB bass vibrato bar.

There is no reason to ever be bored.
...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...
"Uh, I like the double bounds. . . ."

Unfortunately I don't own a 4005...a good one is just a bit pricey for me at the moment. ...Joejps wrote:Which do you own?HofnerVox wrote:I would love to see this bass brought back and I'm just curious who would agree and if so which version would you choose?

And this is exactly why they don't make them anymore.A new one would be expensive.HofnerVox wrote:Unfortunately I don't own a 4005...a good one is just a bit pricey for me at the moment. ...Joejps wrote:Which do you own?HofnerVox wrote:I would love to see this bass brought back and I'm just curious who would agree and if so which version would you choose?

It is not much more costly to manufacture than a 360 which retails for about $2500. It is not the longer neck that will add this much of an extra manufacturing cost.scotty wrote: And this is exactly why they don't make them anymore.A new one would be expensive.
The real reason is the low expected demand. When your plant is capacity limited, the financialy astute thing to do is focus on your product that gives you the highest margin. The 4003 margin wise must be way up there compared to a 4005.

I'd love an original 4005, but slightly out of budget at the moment!
Gretsch have the orange Electromatic (made in Korea), which seems to be well made/finished, sounds good, looks great, and is relatively affordable.

You had me fooled there.
Dont do this to me!
I was dusting down my Barclaycard for a Mapleglo "Tommy" bass.

I don't take credit cards, but a bank transfer will do Pete!

Beautiful bass! And that's one hell of a nice collection you have there.8mileshigh wrote:I don't take credit cards, but a bank transfer will do Pete!

Yes, and Graham has no aversion to sharing photos of what he has. He helped fill in a few blanks in the book, too!HofnerVox wrote:Beautiful bass! And that's one hell of a nice collection you have there.
