Same Product Code - Different Product??

Post by theonemanband »

Hi,
Can anyone please give a definitive answer to an issue I have concerning Rickenbacker strings.

As a new (recent) owner of a 620/12 I have researched so much about the recommended strings, but I'm confused.

I had decided to try the compressed strings and have found some suppliers who quote "Rickenbacker Compressed Roundwound" set No.95404 10-42.

I also see other suppliers (including RIC) quoting the same code number (95404), but described as Standard Roundwound strings (not compressed) and also comprising of different gauges (10-46)

I am totally confused, packaging quoting the same code number, but evidently different strings & gauges.

I guess my question is, as they both have the same code number, is the 10-42 set a true compressed string or just a standard round wound in different packaging?? :?
only my opinion of course!
