any thoughts on this bridge pickup?

Post by Sir Ricardo »

Greetings all.......

I've got an early 70s 4001, and am wondering about this bridge pickup. On my other early-ish 4001s, the bridge pickups have a metal bottom base; on this one, the bottom piece is made of what appears to be plastic.

?

I don't think I've seen one like this. Any thoughts?

thanks in advance - Richard

Looks like a Rick pu, but not for an early '70's.

Plastic plates started mid '70s, right? What year is your bass?

I've seen '72s with plastic plates (and certainly '73s); Neil Brewer's had one IIRC.

The pu should have a skinny magnet, aluminum base plate, green bobbin, and the poles should be screw-top for a '71.

2 '71's for reference.
