4001FL with fretlines?

According to the folks at Rickenbacker, Fireglo is one of the hardest finishes to capture accuratley, I suspect Burgandy is almost as hard.
On Mike's site there's a fair amount of difference between the Burgandy, and Burgandyglo finishes, in some cases they look almost black.
I suspect differences in ambient and artificial lighting temperature plays a big part in the perception of how light or dark the finish is.
The finish on this 4001-FL appears a lot lighter than any of the others at Mike's site.
Ps ... that Purpleglo finish on the Hudson at the foot of the page is lovely, now there's a candidate for "colour of the year" !!!

"It's Red Jim, but not as we know it...."
Yeah that purple is a nice color.
When I bought my Azureglo 4001 4 years ago I was told and believed that it was a Midnight Blue bass. I had a new Midnight blue 4003 at the time too, the Azureglo is a little more blue than the metallic Midnight Blue is.
If that 4001FL is Burgandy I have never seen another anywhere near being that light colored but I suppose it's possible.
Mike has two guitars that he identifies as Ruby and they are indistiguishalble at least in photos from Burgandy to me. We also discussed the names Burgandyglo and Burgandy a few years ago and I think the final answer was that the real name was Burgandy and never really had been Burgandyglo, I'm not posistive though as I seem to remember someone saying that they had seen both names in various catalogues over the years.

Bob-
What year is your Burgundy again? I remember the thread that JH chimed in on about Burgundy. As I remember it, he said that the earliest version of Burgundy was jetglo mixed with fireglo, that there was a lot of variation, and that the later version was not a mix of the two.
My 1987 Ruby is definitely not a Red or a Burgundy. It has RBY written inside the control cavity and it is metallic and non-transparent. I wish I had a photo!
I went to Mike's websight. He does have a (very bright looking) 1984 Ruby 4003 and says that the color ended in 1984, but then he has an example of Ruby from 1987 as well as one from 1989 on the same page. Ruby can take on a drastically different look depending on lighting conditions. I don't think that Mike mis-labeled any of the colors on that page, but I do think that sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between Ruby and Burgundy from a photo.

Play what you love, love what you play!
Mine is an 81 4003, I've seen those two you are talking about on Mike's site they look exactly like Burgandy to me. I've never seen a bright red Burgandy, they've always have been dark as far as I know. Burgandy is wine colored.
Officially Ruby did end in 84 I'm pretty sure, but there were a few stragglers and also a few made before that if I remember right.

Yes, that is my point, but he says he's a luthier and would spot any refinishing done. I thought maybe there was a small chance it had been done at the Ric factory as they have done custom things like that in the past because the finish on the neck looks factory to me and the job looks very good. It's been relisted.
