She is still playing well! Neck has stopped moving! I’m using deaddrio pro steels at the mo 45-105 but might try a set of Roto’s on it next.
She’s now been gigging most weekends!
I play in a few bands and use different bases in them all, mainly play my 5 string jazz Deluxe and my P bases but I found the Rick has such a powerful sound with the switch mod I did to it I can get some very useful sounds out of it!
I have a few amps and have been trying it with each setup to see what works best!
So with the rock covers band I use the Rick with I use a Markbass Classic line 6x10” cab With my Acoustic 370 head then a EBS multicomp kork tuner and that is it!!!
I can get a kick *** classic rick sound out of this setup!! And the amp when pushed breaks up lovely!
I did experiment with the stereo outputs, Treble pickup into the Acoustic then into a 4x12” Marshall cab and the bass pickup into my markbass little tube then a EBS neo 15 and it sounded so cool! But practically this was not ever going to work!! Just a bit of fun!!!
Just watched Allice Coopers “Welcome to my Nightmare” 1975 video-live show and the bass was epic! Prakash John ripping it up on his Rick!! The sound he has is almost identical to my sound when driven hard! Although he has lots of compression from the recording!! Excellent playing and rhythm section!!

Since the polepieces match the arc of the fingerboard, I would suggest you try Roto Swingbass singles in 45-60-80-105. This is closer to the "stock" gauges that are now supplied on new RIC basses, and to me is more balanced than the standard 45-65-85-105 set. I used these gauges on another bass I have, and used these gauges in Progressives on my 4002 for over 20 years.

HI All, Bass Update! A few weeks ago i was changing the strings as usual. I decided to see if i could get the action any lower as it was getting quite hi!
While adjusting the truss rods one snapped! Great!



Gutted!
While doing the restoration i didn't touch the truss rods!
After some looking about and recommendations of here i purchased some new rods on line



Some say its a quick 20 min job replacing these, i took me about an hour! the snapped truss rod took ages to remove and the working one took 3 min!!!

I'm actually glad this happened because with just a little adjustment to the rods i now have a bass with a super low action!! It's far better than before!! Been ok a few weeks now and very happy!
other than this the bass has been great! It's taken over my old P bass as my main gigging bass in the rock band! Good fun bass to play too!

I'm not a techie, but I've never seen the thrust plate pushed that deep into the neck under the nut like that before. It should look more like:

I Know from what i have seen on here on other truss rod related posts they all sit a bit forward from the nut! But with the state of the rest of the bass was in when i got it- it doesn't surprise me it was probably tightened so hard it pulled in the wood! But the wood on the first fret, under the nut is perfect. So are the holes when i removed the truss rods.
It's been playing fine for months before i changed the rod's and a few weeks now and there are no issues! haha so I'm going to leave it alone!!
It plays so much better as well, should of changed them when i restored the bass!!!
