The players version of the 4003, own a 4003s myself and what lovely instruments to play they are.
If they do the pearl white, my credit card is coming out.
Then again the midnight blue is calling.
Hats of to JH in listening to what people want, love what he is doing with the bass line up these days, the return of the 4003s is like having the family back together round the dinner table all talking like old times after a bitter split.

I waited nigh on to a year for my 4001v63...if my memory serves...

And I can recall some of the Color of Year models took a long time as well.
My guess is it will be six months at least, although I hope for better...
It has been awhile since I had the pleasure of waiting on a pre-ordered RIck...

Good question. RIC seems to make them in batches. I ordered a Walnut so I imagine it will either be first or last, I'm thinking the latter, but either way I'm quite excited at the prospect of getting it. Then the real work starts.

I'm having a hard time resisting…. I really want one. Hmmm… FireGlo for that vintage look… throw in a Lollar HS…
Although I already have a 4003 SnoGlo, I'd have placed my order already if Rickenbacker offered that color!
Anyway, just thinking out loud. I'm really happy the S is back.

I love that 4003SW. Man, if I was still buying instead of selling, and if I didn't have an original walnut 4004C, I'd be caving in. :D

Watch those teeth, Marlin. I'm not sure we've properly sedated the beast . . .

If i hadn't just recently bought a walnut C,i'd be thinking about that, too. But by the time i modded one with a classic shape gold pg,toaster, hipshot bridge, and Lollar HS,it'd be one pricey Rick...... :P

Yes, I too want to thank John Hall for helping to bring back the "S" model! Hey, praise where praise is due, right?? RIC pushed the right buttons and got me to place an order for a new Rickenbacker.

I'm sorta laughing at GC now for pricing their 50 piece anniversary bass so high. Who now would pay twice as much for that instrument when they can own a 4003 s?? Yes, the figured maple and satin finish is great but I can have two "s" basses for the price of one GC anniversary!!

Just pre-ordered one in fireglo! My dream bass has always been a 1999/4001s or the c64 model with the reverse headstock. Mainly because of macca :D
Just so it's that little bit more like the originals, i think i'll have to shell out on getting the toaster/horseshoe combo along with the black vintage style knobs. Then i guess it will be "close enough"
Very excited!!

Indeed, I doubt it woulda happened without John Hall being "all in" on it. This is a very popular decision, IMHO and I've put my money where my mouth is...

Awesome~! it looks as if many members here have put money down on the new "S" bass! Very cool. Here is how "all in I am. Not only have a reserved a walnut "s" for myself but I just purchased a vintage values harness from our own Dane Wilder! I had Dane put in a pair of NOS Ajax .047 caps as well!! I am putting in a set of Classic Amplfication 60's value pups. Now, many of you may be thinking, hey idiot, play the damn thing first before you much it up with all these mods. OK, fair enough but I already own a 2011 4003. While I have no issues with the tone, I've become spoiled by the vintage Rickenbackers I play. I want this "S" to be as close to vintage sounding as I can. Besides, none of my mods are permanent.
