Hi all,
I have just acquired a nice 4003S with a 1990 serial number.
It is mapleglo with black hardware, pickguard, nameplate.
I dont particularly care for black hardware/plastic. So, I intend to carefully swap it all out for chrome/white, keeping the original parts stored away.
But only if it can be done with ZERO modifications!
First, I have a couple of quesions:
1. Are the metal items like tailpiece, rear pickup cowling and tuners specific to the time period it was made? Or, should modern parts be interchangeable with the old one's?
2. What about the plastic pickguard and nameplate - modern one's interchangeable? - same screw hole placement?
Thanks!
Kevin

Re: 4003S hardware question
Kevin......All of the hardware and the truss rod cover will interchange, but the current pickguard has screw holes in different pkaces, and isn't shaped the same. If you send me your guard, I can duplicate it in white. PM me for details if you're interested.

Re: 4003S hardware question
I did this back in the late 1990s, with a 4003S I'd purchased that had all black hardware. It isn't very difficult to do.... And it looks so much better when you are finished!!!
