Where can I find original looking masking tape?
Hi,
I replaced my pickguard, but I can't take the masking tape off the old pickguard, as the tape wouldn't stick anymore. Where can I buy original looking masking tape for the back of my '76 4001?
Attached is a picture I found here in the forum.

It's just regular plain ole masking tape. Do you want to age it to make it look vintage? if you are looking for "patina' perhaps a dab of brown shoe polish will work. If the patina is not important, regular masking tape, not the blue **** or the green "Frog" tape.

Thanks Sepp,Kopfjaeger wrote:It's just regular plain ole masking tape.
But where can I buy this kind of masking tape? I've almost searched the whole net and I didn't find anything that looked like this...

Where are you? Most hardware stores, Home depots, Loews or places that sell house paint will have it.

Western Europe. We don't have that kind of stuff in our stores here. We just have Tesa and that's not the same. Or funny colors masking tape. I need to order it somewhere on the net. What would be the correct width?
Re: Where can I find original looking masking tape?
Try Scotch 3M #2050. That's what I've used. It's already kinda yellowed to begin with, and should have the correct patina in about 10-15 years

Great. Sounds good. I'll take a look at it. What width should I take?aceonbass wrote:Try Scotch 3M #2050.

No, there are 3 different:

I don't have an original pickguard at hand now, but as I can remember, none of those have the correct width.
