String recommendations for my '75 4001?

I have to disagree about the TI's.

My experience is they have alot of boom but my bass pickups don't. I get mucho thump out of mine on my P bass which btw is new. My RIC bass is 32 years old with a little thump. Sorta' reminds me of flats with the sustain of rounds. IMO.

TI also has a new string called SuperAlloy's. They have a little more tension than the jazzrounds and don't have the silk core. They sound like dead Roto rounds to my ears. They suppose to last a very long time. Lite on the fingers too.

I have 6 Ric's at this time ranging from 1972 to 2000 (2004 on order which is a fretless and will come with Pyramids on it) and 5 of them have flats on them, two have Pyramids, two have TI's, and one has light gauge chromes, the Fenders which I have used in the past are the most bottomy followed closely by the Pyramids, the TI's are much lighter sounding, they have a nice sound but are a more poppy sounding string to these ears. They don't have the thud the others have. The Chromes are much brighter than the rest and stay that way much longer. IMHO anyway. TI's are a nice string, they lose their brightness pretty quickly and then settle in to a nice kind of a hum and seem to last a long time. They are nice and light too, nice for solos.

Chromes are nice, I have them on my 97 4003. Bright but nice and thoddy with he right pup settings.

Also, my '75 has been very stable for the 10+ years I have had it. I have had Fender Nickelround 7250s on it since 1993 and have only adjusted the neck once, when I bought it. The TRC has not been off since, no need to adjust. But, Mine might be an exception.

De-capped, the bass has a nice presence, more so than with the cap installed.
