Ummm...Ya. I know it takes a little time to work older parts through the system before specs are consistant on everything, but I don't think the route changed several years ago. Maybe several MONTHS ago.

Re: Rickenbacker 4003s Reissue Review
Well, it is now Thursday, and based on the news last week, I had expected the 4003s models to be popping up in threads here like mushrooms after a Spring rain. But so far, not too much, other than a couple of basses on ebay, and the sighting in PA, I haven't seen much out here. This actually gives me hope though, that my bass is among the first batch that will show up, I guess it is in the hands of UPS or FedEx now, or soon will be....
When my shows up, I WILL be reporting on it and posting pics...

I went back and forth between mapleglo and fireglo, doing everything but consulting a Ouija board to make the choice.rickenbastard wrote:I still haven't seen any pics of a mapleglo....

Ultimately, I decided to be scientific about it, and consulted an astrologer, who told me my fire sign was in the cusp, and therefore fireglo was a better option....

I have a walnut and a jetglo so I think it's time I get a maple that will be my main live bass seeing it will be cheaper than my others and I want to make it similar to this:squirebass wrote:I went back and forth between mapleglo and fireglo, doing everything but consulting a Ouija board to make the choice.rickenbastard wrote:I still haven't seen any pics of a mapleglo....

that's a really nice one!
Re: Rickenbacker 4003s Reissue Review
Is it just me, or did RIC really tighten up the specs on the cutaways? I know back in the late '80's and '90's they seemed to be really chunky looking compared to what these new 4003S's are looking like.
Me likey!

I was thinking the same thing. I used to own a 1990 4003S model in mapleglo that had an upper horn much fatter than the one linked above. I really like the way they have configured the cutaways, the pick guard, and the headstock. They look very elegant IMHO.cheyenne wrote:Is it just me, or did RIC really tighten up the specs on the cutaways? Re: Rickenbacker 4003s Reissue Review
The horns have been skinnier since around 1997, but both body wings were moved back in relation to the neck at some point too, which resulted in a bit of structural weakness when combined with the pickup routing in this area. Routing since around February has been much improved in this area, leaving more material.

Case in point: These belong to forum members, forgive me for copying and pasting your photo's,, just making a point here.
Check out the cutaways.

I actually prefer the wider horns
