I'd love to see a 6-string version as well
Re: 1993Plus!!!
Then that would be a 1998Plus. Seriously though, why not?tomt3 wrote:I'd love to see a 6-string version as well

Do we know what the status is of this model? Are they being built, have they been built, when are they shipping?

Re: 1993Plus!!!
A fellow RRF member has an order on this model and was told it's a year's wait.
Re: 1993Plus!!!
I just heard today from an anonymous inside source that they just began production of this model, so it should be available much sooner. Can't confirm this, but I certainly hope it's true!
Now:
'96 325V63
'98 660/12 FG
'15 1993+

Re: 1993Plus!!!
I asked about it on the corporate forum last week and Ben said to check back in 3 weeks.
I ordered through Wildwood shortly after the announcement. At the time, they were told roughly 6-12 months. Don't know how big the first run will be, but hoping mine's in there.

Re: 1993Plus!!!
I know the neck is slightly wider on these, but that neck looks way chunky compared to one on a regular 360 style guitar.
Re: 1993Plus!!!
I was talking to a local Ric enthusiast (yes, there are more in southeast Louisiana than I thought!) about this model. He said that it was just the sort of thing we'd been asking for from Ric for years, kinda like a "just what the doctor ordered" kinda deal. One thing, though, that baffled him is why a regular 6-saddle bridge and not a 12-saddle.
Dan, you lucky dog! If you're getting it from who I think you are, it's a shame their in-house player won't be making a video of it for you. You must give us a full report when you put it through its paces.

Re: 1993Plus!!!
I would have expected a silver vintage case with these.
Anywho, congrats Dan ,i'd love one myself.

Re: 1993Plus!!!
The six string saddle is part of the RIC tone. I replaced all my 12s with the 6 string bridge.
Re: 1993Plus!!!
Regarding the 6 vs 12 saddle bridge, I have the 6 on my v64 and the 12 on my 660/12, so I know the pros and cons. Figured I'd get to know this guitar a little before thinking much about trying the 12. I kinda have the feeling the v64 won't see much action once this arrives, so this may need to remain a 6-saddle - but you never know.
Regarding the case, I noticed that pretty quickly, as well. Mentioned it to the dealer and he said he was a little surprised as well, but that they could come up with a silver case if I wanted. Ultimately, I kinda like the fact that this one secures the guitar better since its shipping. Besides, i already happen to have a silver case or two and these honestly don't leave my basement very often these days. If you check the RIC website, this model is under the 300 series - not the vintage series, so I guess it makes sense. I guess that kinda explains the 6-saddle bridge, as well.
Should have it tomorrow....
Unfortunately, PotR is out of the special TI string sets, so I guess this will get a decent test run with the stock strings. Not necessarily a bad thing, I guess. Locking strap buttons and push-pull pots are on the way from RIC.

Re: 1993Plus!!!
Standard Case = Because it is not a reissue, it is in the 300 Series.
Six Saddle Bridge = Because Pete said so (we asked if he wanted the twelve).
Also: It is a 660/12 neck.

Re: 1993Plus!!!
Jake wanted a report, so here goes. I'm not sure if it was the thread or on the RIC site, but when this was announced, I said I wanted one. Until a couple of years ago, I'd never played an x-braced Rick. Now having some 6-strings, I was getting pretty serious about wanting a 360/12c63 but this was announced before I pulled the trigger on one.
I had very high expectations for this guitar and I'm very happy with it. I have a 360/12v64 and a 660/12. I don't play 12-string nearly as much as 6-strings, so being able to get the classic 300/12 sound with a 660-like neck was very appealing. Yes, I could just practice a lot more, but the wider neck makes it a lot easier to avoid accidentally muting adjacent stings. To me, it's also a much more comfortable neck for a 12-string. Basically, this is finally the 300 series 12-string with the wider neck a lot of people have been wanting. Add the 'vintage' x-braced construction and it just gets better. Much more lively. It's what I was looking for in that regard. Hard to get a one-to-one comparison as the v64 has TI flats on it, but definitely a notable difference. Now add the cool f-hole and an extra pickup - all better from my perspective.
I'm expecting the push-pull pots on Monday, then I'm be able to kill the neck or middle pickup. In my opinion, that's a necessary mod on 3-pickup Ricks. I love blending a little middle pickup with the bridge. Expecting I'll be even happier with the guitar after that. By the way, I didn't need to order locking strap buttons. The guitar comes with them.
All in all, very happy with what I have. Seems to cover everything I was expecting from this model - which was quite a bit.
