So the azure is here....

Post by jaymi »

and I am not sure if I like it or not. I have to change out the front pickup because its output is REALLY low. I am having the light fretboard separation repaired and the trussrods reset. I know that there are a couple of you who like azureglo and I thought I was going to but the color has not grown on me yet so this bass will be repaired and may be offered for trade or sale...the serial is RE etc...78...I have the original case in decent shape and the bass is completely stock at this point. Part of the deal for me to receive it is a correct pickguard replacement from pickguardian so I am waiting on that....

Any thoughts azure lovers?

There were pix posted in a thread from late last year but I have them to repost if anyone is interested.

I am just going to replace the pickup and probably move it on for something else. I really would like to get either a beat white or a ruby red...

I have a 78 Azureglo also and the neck pickup is a lot weaker than the bridge pickup. It should test somewhere between 7 and 8K on an ohmeter. I raised the neck pickup up by removing the screws and rubber grommets from it, made a big difference. It sounds great and is one of my better sounding Rics, has a very strong neck also. That color will grow on you if you have patience.

I have an '80 Azureglo and think it looks much better than my '74 Jetglo....

I think/hope it will grow on you.

2k on the meter...it's gotta change...this makes Ric number 68 on the serial number list and ya know, I had to wait THIS long to get an azure and I am not feeling the color yet. I am going to have the repairs done and then we will see. THe neck is nice, it's just the color...I am weird for white/boogienose-glo and the ruby(candy apple) red with BT since I had one of the red stolen some years back.

anything less than 8.5k ohms is a defective pickup ... I'm not an azureglo guy either ... I want a silver 4003 with black trim ...

I have a few neck pickups ...

It looks like on a pondering basis, that the bass is going to be tweaked and traded if I can't hang with it once it gets rockin.

All I can say is, let Azureglo grow on you.

If it had 2 necks, it would be a definite keeper. I am not sure yet.

No I've heard of and have good Ric pickups at 7K I've heard of them even lower around here, but 2K is too low, it's partially shorted out. All the 70's Ric's I have or have had were at or lower than 8K usually about 7.5K.
